Cookie notice

Draft for review by WFNMB. Not legal advice; the Federation as data controller must approve.

This notice explains what this website stores in your browser. The short version: only what is strictly necessary, and nothing for advertising or tracking.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Websites can also keep small settings in your browser’s local storage, which works in a similar way. Under EU law, anything that is not strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for needs your consent first.

Strictly necessary

  • Admin sign-in cookie: set only for Federation office staff who sign in to the admin area, so the site knows they are signed in. Visitors to the public website never receive it.
  • Your privacy choice: when you allow or decline analytics in the banner, that choice is kept in your browser’s local storage so we do not ask again. It contains only the word “granted” or “denied” and no identifier.
  • Display preference: if you switch the member directory between list and grid, that preference is kept in local storage. It contains no identifier.

Analytics

The website uses Plausible, a privacy-respecting analytics service hosted in the EU. Plausible uses no cookies and stores no identifier in your browser; it counts visits in aggregate and cannot follow you across sites. Even so, nothing from Plausible loads until you choose “Allow analytics” in the privacy choice banner. If you decline, no analytics script is loaded and no request leaves your browser. You can change your choice at any time using the control on this page.

What we do not use

No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no social media pixels, no third-party embeds that set cookies. If the Federation ever adds a feature that stores anything else in your browser, this notice will be updated and, where consent is required, you will be asked first.
